This Term our year 8’s have been designing a mosaic to show at Pt England school when we leave for College. I have designed Elmo off Sesame Street because it looks like it saying welcome and that its red which is like our school color of our uniform. Before we put our tiles on we had to cut paper out we had no red so I practise with blue paper and take a picture to see what it may look like when we place the tiles on and glue them.

“Hi Jaarome”
“Hello Reina” she replied.
“I was wondering if you knew anything about New Zealand?”
“Well of course that’s what we have been learning this year.”
“Oh well this is a great time to ask you.”
“Yes it is, so what might you be asking me?” in reply by Ocean.
“Well Jaarome what is the Capital of New Zealand?”
Jaarome replied. “The capital of New Zealand is Wellington.”
“So what is the population in New Zealand?”
“Yes, the population in New Zealand is approximately 4.4million.”
“So Jaarome do you know one of the traditional dishes in New Zealand.” Replied Reina.
“Well one of the New Zealand traditional dishes a Hangi.”
“So Jaarome what might Hangi be?” Asked Reina
“The Hangi or earth oven is the best known traditional dish of cooking for Maori.”
“Wow, that’s unthinkable! So, what else do you know about New Zealand?”
“Well I know some All Black players and what position they play, name two of your favourite players?” said Jaarome.
“On form my favourite player is Dan Carter and Piri Weepu.” Reina said in are Releafed voice.
Jaarome says. “Dan Carters position is number 10 First five-eighths and started his All Blacks career at second five-eighths, he scored 21 points when they played against England 2004.” Jaarome replied in are big breath.
“Amazing! How about Piri Weepu?” replied Reina.
“Piri Weepu’s position is number 9 Halfback and started in 2004 season as Back up Halfback for the Hurricanes and ended it starting for the All Blacks at Millennium Stadium.”
“Oh Thank you that’s a lot of information on All Black players!” How about information about New Zealand Celebrations like Waitangi day or Matariki?”
“Waitangi day is a public holiday held on February 6th every year of the signing document- the treaty of waitangi -on 1840.”
“So what happened in 1841?”
“Well in 1841 Auckland Maori Chief's invited Governer Hobson who created the where the national day is celebrated at the city birthplace, Okahu bay Domain.”

Silly Sports Day.

On Tuesday the 22nd of August Term 3. All the year 7's and 8's were ready and lined up to go out to the bottom field to play some Silly games. Our Class, Room 19 we didn't know we were going to be playing games on Tuesday so we didn't bring a change of clothes. We were lined up ready to head out to the field and play some really awesome games.

Once we got there we were the first ones to the field, some girls from our class were playing a game of soccer before we started all our games. While we were waiting Mr Harris was setting up his game. When he finished we all went to where he set the game up and sat on the grass listening to his instructions. While we were sitting there he had finished explaining what we had to do then we got straight to it.

Some people got in to pairs and lined up so they could start. We had to tie a thick string around our legs with your partner and hold a teaspoon with a ball on it. I didn't end up playing that game but I was encouraging other people to finish the whole game off. While we were playing we had about a minute to finish off then we moved on to our next activity.

YAY ! Our next activity had to do with Water, it was a COOL game to play. Room 19 went to Ms Nua's Activity and all the other classes went to the next game so it was going around in a circle. Anyway, we did the same thing again which was sit on the grass and listen to the instructions to find out how to play this game. The instructions were that there were 4 teams 1-4 and we all got put in to a team. I was put in group number 2. All the groups got a bucket each full of water and an empty bucket, we had to full it up with a sponge that had water soaked in to it. Team 2 and 1 were coming in a tie we were almost done and the team that WON was team 1, they had great leadership.

Our next activity was with Ms Lagitupu's, it was Ball Tiggy, a game we all have played before. The groups were Blue, Green, Yellow and Red, I got put into Green our team didn't end up winning but at least we played. We were playing against the Yellow team and we lost so we challenge the Red team, we took the plate. Yellow and Blue were some pretty good teams but there was only one winner.

YEAH! Our final game was with Ms Tito, I didn't know what it was called but it was really funny but most of our class didn't even do it. So Room 19 didn't Participate with this game so most of the boys ended up enjoying that game a lot because they kept on having turns. The game was fun and I had enjoyed watching but not good enough to play the game.

These were all the games we had to play and the winning class was going to play with the water balloons after lunch. Room 19 didn't mind because we had no change of clothes for us to play in the water with.

The Papakura Military Camp was established in town in 1940 and remain's an important army base for New Zealand , it is the New Zealand SAS training area.

We are using the nations of the 2011 Rugby World Cup as our inquiry path.

For this unit we are in one of four teams: Brumbies, Force, Rebels, Stormers. My team is Rebels.

There will be a number of tasks for us to navigate to achieve our goal of an excellent result in this unit. There are a mixture of individual and team tasks to be completed. The main task that will show our learning in this unit will be a Hyperstudio presentation about one of the countries in the World Cup competition.

I think the Rugby World Cup will be boring but I hope All Blacks beat Australia. My favourite Rugby player is Sonny Bill , Richie Mccaw , Dan Crater.

My furniture design.

Last week I came back from my dad’s house up north and now I’m back in Auckland I started back at school on Monday the 4th of July.

A few days after I came back Room 19 had already started on their Prototype for the street it had to be Furniture. On Friday the 8th of July the same week I started on my prototype I looked online and tried to look for something to design. It was hard to choose, so I made my design up in my mind then I drew it on paper in my book.

It was our last week of school and it was a Monday. I started on my Model I had to figure out a way to make 4 box’s on cardboard I drew 2 Armrest , sitting place and the back of the chair.
Then Tuesday came and I masking taped my boxes together and it looked like the couch I wanted. After lunch I started on my gluing I used P.V.A glue and glued the newspaper to my Model.

On the 13th of July I finished paper-’mashieing’ my design and I’m just waiting for it to dry. Just when Interval was finished I got told to take three chair’s into the green screen room and I had to take photo’s with people on chair’s with a Green cloth over the top so you take a photo of there Prototype and get the people in the photo to look like there sitting on there Model. After Lunch it dried up and I started painting half of it then I finished painting the whole thing when the bell ring.

Today I had to finish off my writing for my blog to tell every how I made my prototype.

Term 1:

Last term was alright and I enjoyed it a bit. During last term I had done less last term because we hadn’t started our netball games yet.

During last term we had camp , we wrote our thoughts about camp and this is some of it. My thoughts about camp a unbelievable because I couldn’t wait. Camp was about having fun and taking charge of what you take care of. My group was called Responsiblez. When camp comes up I can’t wait till Concert night that is the best bit about camp. Until Camp comes we can have heaps of fun and watch a movie on the first night of Camp and wait till our Camp concert comes on Tuesday night , I wonder what it will be like? I reckon it is going to be Funny and exciting to watch. Till Camp arrives I will pack and get all my stuff sorted. Well that’s what I thought about camp.

We started up a Maths group last term and we went to different classrooms for it. We also started up a group called Taonga time we also go different class’s for that too.
On the Second week of school we had Technology I was in Electronics it was awesome. Also this term Ms Tito decided to make the Kapa Haka group happen so I can’t wait till we start performing.

Term 2:

This Term I hope it’s even better we are going to be starting up the games for Rugby and Netball the teams have been training really hard and a lot this term before the games come up! Our Netball games a starting up next week on Tuesday in the afternoon. Our Topic this Term is BIGGER , BETTER , FASTER , STRONGER.

We have been doing Immersion Rotation going to different classes. Our Kapa Haka is always on Fridays so we won’t be doing Taonga Time. The Netball girls have started up there games Team 2 have won all there games. Last week the Player of the day for Netball Ocean was Player of the day for team 2 was and April was the Player of the day for Team 1. I’m so happy because we might be able to take our Netbook’s home this term it will be really helpful.

Dear Auntie,

Hello Auntie How are you? Hope you are well. So hows life? Mine has been awesome. If you ask Mums been good. I play Netball, we started trials a few weeks ago. I also signed up for Rugby as well and we will be starting next week.

I really enjoy school it’s been great! We go to different classes for Maths. On Monday mornings year 7 and 8’s go to Tamaki for Tech, I’m in Electronics. There a heaps of other groups like Woodwork, Science, and other stuff like that.

Thoughts about Camp

YAY! Team 5 is having Camp next week and it is almost coming so we better get packed , it is called Camp “Take Charge”. We got into our groups yesterday the year 7 and 8’s we played a game where we had to use 8 chairs and 1 mat our whole group had to get over to the other side of the hall (at least half of the group) then we had to get across the hall without touching the ground , it was a Challenge that took a while till we got the hang of it.

My thoughts about camp a unbelievable because I couldn’t wait. Camp was about having fun and taking charge of what you take care of. My group was called Responsiblez. When camp comes up I can’t wait till Concert night that is the best bit about camp. On Monday , Our year 7 and 8’s went to Tamaki College for Technology I walked down by myself because I arrived to school late I came to the Office at our school and was told to meet Mrs Nua at the Tamaki Office to look for Mrs Nua then I went to Mrs Fergenson to ask where Electronics maybe then she said well we are going to have a look around for a will till we find Electronics soon we went around asking other classes

At Tamaki the area of learning that I am doing this term is Electronics our tech teacher is Mr Malhotra he teached me a lot for about 10 minutes for me to read what was on the broad.

I thought it was an exciting morning for me to have a new project to learn this year for technology and learn way more about Electronics and wait till next week I will learn more.

When My Uncle Shannon Came here to new Zealand they went to see my Cousin Lily it was great to hear that she was doing great it was good to hear that. When it was Guy Forks my Uncle told me that they went to see Lily up north with her brother. They went to go and see them because they a going to take care of them when the caregivers give Cruz and Lily to My Uncle Shannon and Auntie Bell. When I heard that there were photos of her on facebook I had went straight on line and had a look at the photos here a some photos of what she looks like now. I'm gald to hear and I hope that I see her again. I LOVE YOU LILY AND CRUZIE.

On Sunday My Uncle and Auntie came to New Zealand they came here for a Court case but they ended up not doing it instead they cancelled it for other Week. When my uncle Shannon and Auntie Bell came down he took me out Shopping and I got some shoes when we went shopping a few weeks later when it was guy forks my other Uncle, Uncle Aaron came and picked me and my mum up we went over to my Uncle's Father and law's house and celebrated fire works there for the year. When we arrived I went straight upstairs and sat down by my Uncle Shannon we were watching TV while the food was getting ready. Finally we called the rest of the kids to come up and have a kai after we had a mean feed we went downstairs to watch the bomb fire it was cool because the kids who were there made a man made out of stick, clothing and wool they lit it on fire and we watched it burn all the way down to the ground.

Just when it hit dark we all went downstairs we lit the fire works and I went to the car and bring out the big ones it was mean we had an awesome time. Few minutes later we lit the big ones it was other amazing experience. Soon I went to crab my fire work and I lit it I went away and it went up very fast. We stayed there for 4 or 5 hours and then went home it was a great weekend because we went to my aunties house the next day.

Mairangi bay

On Friday Year 7s went to Mairangi Bay for a surf Life saving Education. Just when we arrived at the beach we were waiting down stairs for the Lifeguard Rosie to tell us to come up stairs when we went up stairs we walked in to a warm club house where it wasn't cold like down stairs when we were inside we put our bags in a small space. There were 3 lifeguards standing in front of us they had introduced there selves to us when they told us about them selves they were also telling us about surf life saving and how to keep our selves safe in the water when where in danger.

When we finished listening to the lifeguards we went down stairs. Later on that day we played some games they were Octopus and Captains Coming. It was almost Interval we headed up stairs to get our lunch we only had 15 minute's to play.

1 of the Lifeguards blew there whistle and we all gathered around Miss M we went and got changed for swimming I was watching them grab the tubes and boogie boards the Boys had the boogie boards and the girls had the tubes they headed out to the beach and hoped in the water I wasn't going to have a swim but everyone was having fun I was getting bored siting and watching them have all that fun so I called Shontal to come by me and stay with me when we were in the water all the waves were splashing me and the water was coming up to my waist so as soon as I was right in I went under the water. I forgot my T-shirt was white so it was see through like Oceans Rachael covered us every time we had to get out of the water and switch equipment so the Girls had the boogie boards when that was over we got some free time before we went back to school. After free time we went to the bathrooms and got changed we got called to hurry up and get out because the bus was there I was the only one in the bathroom.

Athletics Recount...
Wow!!!! Athletics was awesome we had a great time and this year was one of my best years hope its much more better next year.

On Wednesday the 10Th of November we had Athletics our first activity was softball throw I ended up looking for a hat so i missed out on softball throws but I tried Shoot put it was my turn and I didn’t make it in but that’s OK because after that we moved on to High Jump.

Finally High Jump I was Happy because that was my favorite activity out of all the activity's that we done that day. It was my turn and I tired hard and harder to get into the final 3 well I was happy because I had done better then I had when I was practising I had kept on knocking over the pole. But when I had Jumped I had a lot of encouragement and strength to get over to the other side of the pole. Soon I had made it in to the finals, !!! Ya!!! 2Nd equal with Victoria I was amazed and I enjoyed it a lot. Moving on to Spirits.

Whoop Whoop!!!! Spirits finally we a doing spirits I said, we lined up heading towards the tracks for us to race on we sat down then got put into spots on the tracks 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 We got ready and the clapper went off, off we go just hit the finish line woo that was tough I was hoping to get into the finals. It was our next race I got up and got ready to race again this time I was happy because I came 4Th or 3Nd Because I came one of those I was in the Finals again just like last year.

We finished we had morning tea and after morning tea we headed straight to Javelin the 12 year old’s started first I was 2Nd in line Yeah my turn was up I got up got ready and throw the Javelin I came 1st then Gabby came 2Nd and Victoria came 3Nd about 20 minutes later we had a challenge and I went up to challenge the rest of the girls This time I came 2Nd it was OK unless I didn't go to the back of the line and come 5Th. Soon we finished.

We went straight to Discus when It was getting to me I didn’t come anything but I didn't mine.
When we finished we had lunch and it was exciting because we had the finals for spirits and relays I was in the Spirits we raced twice on the first race I walked on the second race I had came 4Th that was better than coming last twice in a row. Ya!!! The Relays were coming up this is the best part because we earn more points for our group. When they got ready to race the teachers came to race as well it was funny takitimu was winning at first and our group ended up racing the teachers some fell over. Well that my day and I had a great day.

Our First Time Trying Our Netbooks...

Yay!!! We Fianlly got our Netbooks we just got them on tuesday and we have been using them for about 2 days now so I'm Glad. I'm So Happy to Have A Netbook and its great because we get to work on it More offen. I Like to Thank Mrs and Mr Burt for all there help to get these Netbooks we a so grateful so Thank you we a Happy to Have yous as our Teachers and Princpal.

I like these Netbooks because their Small and Way better so we can use these and take them Home next year , thats going to be exicting and I can't wait. Now we get to post more Offen as well as chating to other People like Best Friends as well as Draftwriting on our Google Docs.

I'm Proud that we have our Netbooks and can't wait till next year so we can take them home...

Weta's...

Giant Wetas can grow over 50mm long and weigh as much much as 25 grams. Although fearsome looking they a actually with dough seal and there diet is largely vegetarian. It leads a solitary not eternal life spending the day in habitation or under day.

They mainly Survive on off shore Islands where it is safe from introducded Predators.

Ground weta is the smallest of all wetas and hides in burrows in the ground during the day concealing the exit of their hole. They hunt at night for predators and eat invertebrates and fruit.

They do not have Ears on their knees like other wetas They also do not have spiky back legs like other wetas. To attract mates, they drum on their abdomens.

On the last week of school, I went to a tangi up north in Waima so I couldn't come to school for a week because my Uncle passed away. My mum told me to choose where I will be when we go up to the Marae. I had to choose out of the Kitchen or Marae to listen to the Kaia Korero. My choice was in the Kitchen because I like to do the dishes.

Once we got up north, we were all standing at the back of the coffin because when we go inside the coffin needs to be down on the mat. Well we were waiting the Kai karanga came out to welcome us in. We got in and went in a line and waited for the whanau to hongi the rest of our whanau that were there. When it started to get dark I went to the kitchen to see if my mum wanted help. She said no so I went to my Cousin Ronnie to see what she was doing. She was playing handball with Jahmon and Desman my other Cousins. Soon we got bored then we went in the Marae. It was 11:37 and it got darker. I only had half an hour to sleep.

The next day was cool till it hit dark at dark time on Tuesday because we had to toetoko my uncle. We use a stick made with patterns on it. It was special, that was the night I got heaps of sleep because I didn't want to speak but that night I had to speak, I woke up in the middle of the night because my cousin Wayne that teached our Kapa haka group done a haka and he woke heaps of people up with his amazing performance. Then I crashed out when he finished.

Then it was Wednesday, Wednesday was the sad day because that was the day we had to burie my Uncle it was a emotional moment to see him get buried when we went to the simatere I was starting to get happy because my Papa was there there is a photo of him at Tamaki Collage next to the P.E hall well he was there i hadn't seen him for ages. Well all that was over we went back to the Marae it was dark it was cool because everyone went to set up the Kitchen for the people who wanted to have a drink we had Hangi for our Kai it was delicious that night was just getting started well everyone was in the Marae I called them in for a feed My mum was out side in the car she needed a break so I took over Everyone came in and I waited for everyone to have a feed because I was on dishes there were heaps of dishes and My cousin said 'I wouldn't want to be in your spot right now' I didn't mind it was awesome I just didn't have a feed when that was all done my aunty give me some lollies for doing the dishes for everyone I was the only one there most of the Adults were drinking soon I went into the marae and played with my cousins and stayed up all night till we had to go home on the next day and that was my Holiday.

In the Life Eduction caravan Room 20 had to do a play a few weeks later before we started to go to life eduction caravan.We learnt about, Making the right choices and how to keep of bodies nice and Safe the main thing we learnt about how drugs can affect your body and how they can be harmful to you.

A few weeks later Mrs Nua said to us "We could make a movie'' instead of writing a letter to your parents and tell them how bad smoking is. I decided to make a movie with my group, in my group was Reina, Te rangimaria, Victoria and Me.

Our movie is called The YUCK things about smoking. Our Class were doing a play about Smoking we had done a great play and put it into a movie. Lynn was amazing because she teached us about what happens in life and what might be amazing in the future.

On the holidays last year I had an awesome time. I was happy last year on the holidays but miserable at the same time because I had to go to see my auntie at the Court house for the day. I had been waiting outside waiting for the rest of the family to come we were so upset and I had just went in with my mum then I had seen my Family coming so I ran outside to go say Hi. After we went up the elevator to see the lawyer in a small room we went in there to introduce our self's to her. I had also went inside to introduce myself as well when we finished talking about what happened we went outside and sat with the family.

Then we all went inside by the court room to wait to be called in to see my auntie but kids weren't allowed to go in because it was only a adults thing and also kids would make trouble or run around or either scream.

After we waited the parents and the rest of the family went inside the court room as I stayed outside looking after all the babies and kids. Soon half an hour later they came out and my auntie Hayley was crying she had missed her step sister. Soon we all had went outside and got ready to leave court house and go to my house and have a family meeting which was cool because everyone was coming to my house and I like playing with my cousins. When we were outside of the court house my papa had by interviewed by camera people.

When I had went to go see my auntie the bad thing was I didn't get to actually see my auntie face to face or at all till I went to see her in prison.

Spending Holidays at LIbrary...

In the Holidays I went to the Library with April and Shontal we had a computer that we had booked the day before. We had booked seven computers and used them all up. I went on many websites which was Facebook, Bebo also YouTube listening to songs. Every time I go on Facebook I always enjoy it because I can chat with my family on line. Sometimes I don’t always stay at the Library and decide to go next door to the Marae.

At the Marae I help my Aunty Jalayne and Aunty Georgie which is Miss Tito’s Aunty.But at the Marae its cool and I enjoy helping with the hangi. We all do hangis for the visitors that come Saturdays. We work really hard to do that just for them and we think its good for them to try something new.

In the afternoon I went back to the library and saw April and Shontal then they had there turn on the Computer. Just after there turn I got some Money and got a feed and went to Shontal’s house and called some people. But then we went back to my house to get some Clothes which was late at night walking through Glen Innes peacefully.

Then saw some of the kids from Tamaki intermediate they had went to the shop and was roaming Glen Innes. Then got home and got my clothes said bye to my mum and left. Then we saw Ocean and Tyla Baker they were in Glen Innes with Tylas mum. We went and said hi they were waiting for Tylas mum in the shop or Chemist. April, Shontal and I saw Renee Shontal’s Sister we were told to go straight back to Aprils House safely. Walking through the park taking a sort cut through there and soon getting a safe trip back to Aprils. After all that dramatic moments in Glen Innes at night with Shontal and April we went back to her house and her mum came home with a bunch of junk food It was nice as. Soon it was the next day after a beauty sleep but also cold, we went back to the library which we were going there for about 1 and a half weeks.

Finally after a whole 2 weeks we went to school for the first day of the Term which was Term 3, !!!YAY!!! where back at school for the first term I had thought in my head so quietly I am so happy but also upset I won't see my mates from Tamaki Intermediate again but that's all goods at less I see them much more offen this term. But anyway I still miss the holidays seeing my friends at the library or in Glen Innes and the Holidays doing fun things mostly going to the library in Glen Innes.

The Auckland Volcanic Field appeared 200-000-250-000 years ago. Onepoto Domain and pupuke are one of the first sites to erupt in the Auckland volcanic field. The volcanoes that are in the Auckland volcanic field have no magma chamber. The Auckland volcanic field is made up of 48 small basalt volcanoes.

The Auckland volcanic field has about 50 volcanoes, with an area of 360 square kilometres.

Some take the familiar shape of hills with large craters at the top, like Rangitoto and One Tree Hill.New Zealand sits where two slowly moving plates of the earth’s surface meet. Where one plate slips over the other, cracks can form and molten rock, or magma, from about 100 km below rises to the surface.

Every now and then, a bubble of magma pinches off from the "hot spot" and rises up through solid rock, like a bubble leaving the bottom of a pan of hot water.

Larger bubbles may go on to send liquid rock to the surface for years, building up rocky scoria cones like One Tree Hill.It is thought that Auckland’s volcanoes first began to appear between 60 000 and 140 000 years ago, starting with the eruptions of Albert Park and the Domain. The largest and most recent eruption was Rangitoto, about 600 years ago, which would have been witnessed by local Maori.

Even though the larger volcanoes like One Tree Hill and Rangitoto may have been created by successive eruptions over a period of centuries, it is unlikely that any of Auckland’s existing volcanoes will become active again

Mt Wellington

Mt Wellington is the largest scoria cone in Auckland. It's also the second youngest because it had erupted before Rangitoto. Mt Wellington had erupted 9000 years ago. Mt Wellington has a Maori name which is Mangarei mountain of Reipae and English name Mt Wellington.

Mt Wellington has 3 vents in the crater. Mangarei is 135meters high. It was inhabited by Maori.

Rangitoto is one of the youngest volcanoes because it had erupted last out of all the Auckland volcanoes. It erupted 600 years ago. Its the youngest but largest, Rangitoto had emerged from sea some believe that there had been a village of people on that Island before it became a volcano.

Rangitoto was named after a women who's name was Te Rangi totongia which was a beautiful name that's how they came up with Rangitoto. It had erupted 600 years ago which makes it the youngest volcano of all Auckland volcanoes.

People a sure that it had erupted twice. Rangitoto had been witnessed by Man when it had erupted. Scientist say it might be extinct and might not erupt again. Rangitoto had been a violent volcano when it erupted and the lava had spread though the sea.

Matariki is coming soon and this week on Thursday we are going to celebrate it at our school. We are having it because its known that a lot of tribes had celebrated Matariki. Matariki is the Maori name for a small cluster of stars also known as the seven sisters.

Various Maori tribes celebrated Matariki at different times. Others celebrated after the full moon rose or at the beginning of the next new moon. The Maori New year is marked by the rise of Matariki and the sighting of the next new moon that's coming.

Matariki re-appears, Whānui starts its flight. Being the sign of the new year!

Auckland volcano...

Here's a quick movie of Rangitoto erupting.

Out of all the Auckland volcanoes Rangitoto is the youngest but largest. Rangitoto emerged from the sea. Its crater is 60 meters deep. It's also a scoria cone and it erupted around about 600 to 800 years ago.

Rangitoto was the only Auckland eruption to be witnessed by man, and was the most violent eruption. Scientist believe it erupted more then once.

Today it has become a popular terrace.

Kapa Haka at the Auckland Museum...

Kapa Haka

On Sunday our KAPA HAKA group performed at the Auckland museum. We were all excited and some of us were scared as well. When we were dressed in our KAPA HAKA uniforms we got ready and put our bags in Miss Tele'a's room soon we went in the staff room and had a chat. Soon went in to the hall way and practised for a while then thought of going outside instead. Finally we saw the bus and jumped in with our awesome uniforms. Some girls were scared but decided to shake the nerves away.

Once we got there, the girls that were scared, got even more scared but it turn out fine just before we walked in to the Museum. Just then we went up stairs to a room where we could put on our piupiu so we could perform in them by showing people what piupiu's are for by swinging our hips more often and get the hang of it by not being ashamed of ourselves. Just then we all went outside the room and waited for the elevator to come down so we could go and perform.

After it came down only a few people hopped on the elevator then we went up to the top of the building- finally we walked out of the elevator that's when we saw that the whole room was surrounded with glass windows. Then the rest of our group came up out of the elevator so we lined up and had a quiet practise.

We then walked down the middle of everyone and got up on the stage - that's when we got in our lines and put our hands on our hips. Heaps of people were taking photos, it was like we were famous. Just then we started and Feki had lead the song by going Karanga mai ra toruwha. Mrs Tele'a was videoing and most of us were going really hard to earn our place in kapahaka.

After that performance we did another action song which was Taku Reo Rangatira that is my favourite one. Mrs Tele'a got a close up on my face doing a Pukana. Our girls had done awesome Pukana, we all looked like true Maori.

After all of us doing our actions we went back to the elevator and went back to the room where we had put our piupiu on. We went in and took our piupiu off and tided up. Then we had some pizza and drinks. We all had a AMAZING time.
Later on we went back in to the room where we were preforming for group and sat on the ground to wait for it to finish. Soon we came back to school and went into the staff room and got everything of ours in Miss Tele'a's room before going home.

The next day we watched the news the cool thing was we were on it and here's a video of us doing some cool as Pukana.

What is a Volcano?

A volcano is a landforms that results from magma (molten rock within the earth) erupting at surface. It is a Mountain that has all of the Magma inside and spews out when the mantle raises though the crust of the earth.

What are Volcanoes?

Volcanoes a mountains. But unlike most mountains in the world, formed from folding continental plates.

How are They formed?

They are formed when the magma from within the earths upper mantle raise to the surface of the crater in the volcano and erupts with the magma turning into lava.

How does an eruption occur?

When two tectonic plates collide at a convergent boundary, the less buoyant plate is subducted. Flux melting occurs as the subduction plate is heated.

There a different types of volcanoes?

There a four different types of volcanoes. A volcano categorized both by formation and appearance.

KAPA HAKA On wednesday

On Wednesday our KAPA HAKA group, were practicing in the hall and decide that we should Preform outside by the staff room so we could be able to understand how it fells preforming at the Auckland Museum.

When we walked outside in our lines, the front row went first and we all lined up in our rows. Soon we stared a song which was Wairoa tapu. Soon there was a crowed of people watching us, we sort of tried not to laugh but we still got on with it and tried very hard to work for it.

Finally we had sang the action song which was Taku reo Rangatira, thats when a lot of people started to come around and watch us do our Pokana. I was not ashamed at all, I had enjoyed it and got on with it. Any way Ms T said if your shy, look at the Exit sign but we were outside so I looked at the tree.

Just then we got told to finish off the rest of lunch time.

I have preformed before and I know how it fells. I had preformed at my old school in front of adults and thousands of kids, It had been a awesome time and I had enjoyed.

RUGBY

On Friday last week we were challenging the year 6's at Rugby we were in class soon we all had our gear ready and went straight to the hall for a quick warm up. Soon we rushed out and had a chat about what to do when they have the ball.

Finally we saw the year 6 boys come out and went and had there chat with Miss,V we all got set up on the field then we !!!STARTED!!! they took kick off we caught the ball and ran it was amazing we had a great time. But we left the ball and they got it that was not suppose to happen because someone didn't get the ball they left it and the other team got it. They were really good and when we had it we mostly got tackled that was really funny cause we think it was just a game. We went to go and tackle them but they though it and one of the boys caught it and ran though the gap because no one was there we were on the other side of the field and soon they had scored a try. Finally it was our kick off and and Shaniah kicked it off. We took a run for it we tackled around about 3 boys then Sela went and tackled Richard we were all cheering for her cause only she tackled him, that was wicked. Then the bell ring and we stop and we hoped that we could do better when we play viscount.

We packed up then we asked Mr Burt if we could play at lunchtime he said if we have a Teacher. We asked the year 7 Boys if they wanted a match of rugby with us they said yes. Then we asked some teachers. We saw a teacher on duty - she watched then walked away. One of the year 6 boys scored a try and Ms Squires came out she growled us, she said "Wheres your teacher then we said she's over there but she was on duty and she was doing her job". So we had to stop and play touch instead of rugby. Soon Miss V - our other coach came out and we asked her if we could play rugby. Seeing if she can watch us she came out on the field finally we played. We were having an awesome time yes we were going hard that was great Shontal got tackled I got the ball and ran for it Tui was holding me then let go cause he hit the ground I fell down when Tamati ankle tapped me then took the ball out of my hand. They had the ball we got them down then took the ball out of their hands then we scored a try.

It is time for Tuakana Teina Every Tuesday I am excited because we have Tuakana Teina which is looking after little kids and we a all in groups we help the kids save there work and how to draw.

We all ran to our class rooms that we were in and sat on a computer to wait till the Little kids a told to come to a computer so we could work with them. We went on kid picks and we told them to draw a Volcano with lava coming out. I had a little girl called Eliza she was a good artist she put a lot of effort in her work. It was creative and The teacher said "WOW'' that looks amazing''.

Soon we had saved it in desktop and went straight to the music room.

On Wednesday it was a exciting day for a lot of us cause it was time for "CAMP KINDNESS" and I was already sorted. My stuff was all done for the first day of Camp I had just got dressed for Camp.I had a packed lunch for camp when we have morning tea and lunch. Soon I rushed off to school and went to the shop I had seen Te Rangi running we caught up with each other and ran to the school. We all helped set up the tents for the year 5's and 6's.

Year 7's were sleeping in the Marquee together Ms Nua said it was like sleeping in a Marea but this was different cause they had the boys on one side and the girls on the other side and covered the middle with a long sheet. Soon we got ready to play some cool games until we go to our next trip to waka-ama. An hour later we jumped on to the bus and took a sit it was awesome we appeared and we got set up. Just then we had done some waka-ama and after all of it we had a race we only won 2 race's but that was cool because we went to go have a feed which was some hangi.

Then we went back to the school and went in to our tent and got ready to go and have our showers. Then get on with the next story which was the next day when we go to urban beat. In the middle of the day when the lunch bell ring we had finished doing camp activities with a group called Rock up. We had lunch and went straight to the school hall . Nobody had seen nothing in the hall Suddenly all of our groups split up and found a place to sit. Finally this group of people came and sat on the stage and soon they yelled "out we are urban beat and we are going to tech you guys some dance move's. We were doing this during Yr 5 & 6 camp activities this was one of our camp activitie. It was so cool that we had just started and everyone was surprised.

On the first day of swimming we all got in a line and went to the YMCA pools. When we got there we went straight to the dressing rooms and got in our togs. After that we went to the shower, then in to the pools. When I went in the pool I was doing freestyle, then back stroke. When I got to the other side, we had a race competition. We only did 4 races and I had only done 2 and I won all 2 rounds. When we had finished our races we had free time. After our free time we had to get out and get change but I didn't want to but we had to go back to school. Next time we come back to the swimming pools, my goals are trying to breath under water by blowing bubbles under the water and also turning my head to the side to breath.

As the Man was counting down from 10, I was scared to death because I couldn't stop panicking. Once he finish counting I would of jumped off with a lot of nightmares in my head if I jumped off I would of been able to Breath as I would when I am standing up.

I might have a Heart attack but it seems the same when you jumped of things that a not tied to your legs and not be able to push myself towards the edge you can just jump off and its like your diving in to the water in a different picture.

One day if that happens to me I would run away and let them keep the money or shout and scream will I am going down. The thing why I would not jump off cause I would be to scared that the rope might break or snap.

Our First Assembly...

On the first day of Assembly on Friday morning Room 20 year 7s walked in to the hall and sat down on the ground. While we were waiting for the rest of the class's Mr Burt came in and said WELCOME BACK PT.ENGLAND SCHOOL STUDENTS as he yells out happily in a excited tone. Soon Mr Burt played a song and the whole school was finally here to enjoy the rest of assembly.Soon we had to stand and sing the national anthom.

Next we had to sit and talk about our Korero and sing a new song called is it kind. We had started the Dr. Strange Awards which was Room Ten and Room Eighteen that was amazing those awards were from last year that was cool.

Finally we had moved straight on to the Duffy awards and most of them were little kids around that had just started school. Finally we started to go straight to lunch box heroes and it had been Sam that had been chosen to call out the lunch box heroes this year. Sooner or later everyone stood up and started to leave and go back to class.

In the morning room 20 and 19 lined up in the court yard we were rearranged in to grumps of 3 we also had to have covered footwear. I was fulled with excitement and most of all I was waiting for a new experience to arrived and start cooking some beautiful food.Everyone was prepared to leave the gates of Pt.England and arrived though the gates of Tamaki collage.

Once we were leaving we leaded by Mrs Nua we were hurried along on the footpath waiting for the time to arrived as we wounder down . All of us were surprise , when we arrived at Tamaki we all couldn't wait to do some cooking with our group.

First we went straight to Miss Heka class and stayed in line and listen to Miss Heka To tell us about what we a doing. So we got a apron and put it on and went to are kitchen and stayed there and watch what we were going to cook.Miss Heka said we were cooking Chow main our ingredients were Meat, Onions, thin egg Noodles, Veges, Soy sauce and Chicken soup. Our equipment were 2 measuring cups, 2 measuring bowls, 2 chopping boards [red,green], measuring spoon, wooden spoon. With me I had Ocean for my partner we had started to work so Ocean got a trolley and got the equipment out and then decided who was going to wash, dry or pack I decided that I was going to Dry and pack and Ocean was going to wash. So then we got told to to go and get the ingredients first we went to go get the Thin egg noodles and the rest.

First place noodles in large bowl with hot water sock for 2 minutes then drain. Combain stock,soy sauce,and oyster sauce in a small bowl. Stir to mix thorugnly. Place it of oil into frying pan and saute the oninos. Add the meat and cook until brown. Add noddles and then the sauce. Cook for further 3-4 minutes,reduce the heat then leave to simmer for 5 minutes. Then Serve into individual bowls.

When we had finished we had gave a plate to Mrs Nua as well Then we all finished and Mrs Nua gave us a thumps up and we had enjoyed the rest of the day being happy.

Hi my name is Reina...

I go to Pt.England Intermediate school and I am a year 7. I am 11 years old and turning 12 in May. My Hobby is playing Rugby and Tag. My best friends are Ocean, Marie and Ala. I have a Mum and Dad but my Dad lives up North and my Mum lives down here. I have 2 step sisters and 2 step brothers. My sisters names a Chime and Nelly and brothers names a David and William but we call him boy boy Cause our Dads name is William. They live up North with there Mum. My Mum name is Malayna Me and my mum come from the Cassidy side we come from Mangamuka and my Dad come from Rahari.

The coolest thing I did in the Holidays was jump off cliff which was the size of are 2 story house I was frightened because my Aunty Hayleys mum Jumped off first and she was close to the rocks. So then I had a look and Jumped off and I couldn't breath and I couldn't touch the bottom of the creek water I had jumped off three times and there was a top a bottom and a middle. And that was the coolest time of my life and that was ALL ABOUT ME.

In the holiday me and my family went to Coromandel for New year's On the first night we went eeling. My Uncle Aaron told Charm to hold the spear and wait till we find are eel, in about 2 minutes later when we were going up stream my cousin spotted a eel in the Water and eels only come out at dark time and they only love Creek water. Charm had to hold the hook on above the eel and jap it down towards it until it raps around the spear and drag it out of the water and hit it with a rock you have to hit it on the head. That was the biggest eel we had catched so far. We had catched 3 eels and 2 of the eels looked kinder small and a bit big. Soon we went back to the camp and drive back down to the bottom of the creek.

Once we started walking up we ended up at are camping spot and we were walking beside the steam we saw a huge eel coming down steam so my Uncle took the spear and went after the eel and bring it up towards us and killed it till 3 people came and said that eels name was Bob so they said do you have to kill him. We had said only if you want us to they said ok, so we did. So we took it and left with the bag full of slimy looking eels. And we went back to the camping ground and ate them the next day...

One day Maree and I had just came back from the beach when I saw that my Mum was crying. Maree went home and I asked what had happened. My mum just said my baby cousin and
I ran to my room. I was thinking to myself my baby cousin was only 2 years old. My mum came and explained that she had passed away. I cried for nearly the whole day I was really freaked out so we went to the hospital then we were at the place ware the people who had passed away and the family meets them I was so scared that I was having nightmares but the people who worked at the hospital didn't release her from the hospital and we had to see her on Monday although we didn't get to.
The next day came we had to go to Whangarei and see my cousin I was excited then I told my Mum I didn't have breakfast so she said can we stop at Burger king. We went to go and see my cousin and she was so happy to see us she hugged me so hard that I was about to blow up. My mum talked to us and then we went to Macs. We had a race who can eat mac nuggets first. It was cool as and the WINNER was my cousin she was so happy but then we had to go back to Auckland and go to the Marae and see my baby cousin. She looked so beautiful but I cried so much I was so sad that I didn't talk to a lot of people. The next day we went to Mangamukai and we slept there for the night then the next day I went on my Uncle Rips horse . That was cool it was a boy and I was riding on a white horse which was a alot like a wild horse well it is a wild horse. Then my cousin had came I didn't notice her until my other cousin told me she said "Your cousin is here and you need to come and see her Hurry up" Then I just said "I don't want to, I want to ride the horse and go across the creek and ride the horse in the paddock and come back" She said "You have to, you can ride on the horse later" So I said "OK". I went into the Marae and I saw my cousin she was next to her sister, my baby cousin. It was sweet and I loved her alot. I was so happy I went to see my cousin and how she was. They had talked for so long. So then that's when it happen. My baby cousin was going to get buried and we were not going to see her face again. So that day forward my cousin Jessie Ray told me if I wanted to stay over I could. So I asked and my mum said yes it was ok then. So that day was over and I woke up and my mum was there and we had to go back to Auckland. Then everything was over. I still miss her.

Cross Country...

At lunchtime we had cross country As we lined up i was freaked out i didn't want to race

because i was scared that i would come last i was anxiously waiting for Mr Burt to clap the clapper togetter i was fulled with excitment. Suddenly Mr Burt hit the clappers togetter i burst with speed trying to power ahead to get to the front. My body was painful,my heart was pounding and i needed some water. My muscles were straining and my lungs were screaming. I was so sore that i had to slow down. When i past the teacher in room 2 she was cheering for the girls and the boys, and telling us to run or she will run with us she said '' come on you guys or i will run with you all''. So i ran with my friend Maree and Rachel i past Ms Katu and then i past Ms Telea i rushed to the end. I felt like i was so sucked up for myself that i came last but that was ok because i wanted to try it and see how it felt but it was pretty cool.

He was the best pop dancer and singer, no one could take over his moves he sang,The way you make me feel, Beat it, Black or white, You a not alone, We a the world, Heal the world, Bad, Thriller, Remember the time, Earth song.He was a great singer i liked the way he does the Moon walk. When my cos Sunday was doing the Moon walk i started to do it. Michael Jackson was the greatest pop singer and he was really great.The way Michael Jackson does his moves was amazing he was the man at pop he is the greatest. But it was really sad when Michael Jackson pass away he was a great person.The best song i liked that he sang was ''The way you make me feel''. I hope nothing happens after what just happened.

Immersion Assembly...

On the first day of school for term three we had our Immersion Assembly. As we stomped into the hall it was though I had stepped into a fairy tale book.I saw all the teachers wearing costumes . There was the ugly step sisters and Cinderella,Puss in boots and the Gingerbread man. Mr Burt yelled out"Aarra,wheres my princess?"(yelled Mr Burt"). He was dressed up as a Prince.

(Miss Squies was dressed up as) a Pied piper and clutching a rat.(I also saw)(a gingerbread man). Ms Tito,who is a new teacher at school,was the gingerbread man. Her costume was fantastic she had the coolest costume out of the whole school.

Ms Wild was the little red riding hood. A Fairy Godmother who was granting wishies (It was Ms Noa ). We found out that the topic we were going to be studying this term was
"THE ART IN STORYTELLING" which is the teachers were dressed up in different Fairytale Characters.

I felt very happy about this terms topic called "The art in storytelling"(which means)because it all about Fairytales.

A Stegosaurus is a roofed lizard and it was a plant eater.It walked on four legs but its back legs were as twice as longer then its front legs.Its "Length"was:"(30 Feet long)and its"Height"was:(9 Feet tall)and its"Weight"was:(4-6 tons).It had plates on its back that were not attached to his bones it also had 17 bony plates on each side and it had spikes on its tail to us as a weapon. It also was well behaved and it had a tiny brain like a ware nut. It moved very slow. In stead of running away from its home it stayed in one place and defend itself from against attackers. It died out when there was no water and to much walking and fell to the ground and got extincted.

Its term 2 the first day of school we were all going to assembly.Rm 15 walked to the hall and

sat downand found out that we were study about Dinosaurs and our topic was about Dino-

might.But first we were wondering where Mr.Burt was.Then he was running though the door

very fast.He started to hit kids with his bomby knocker.He was just playing because he was

dressed up as a cave man.He whacked Toreka and then hit Feki and pulled him to the front of

assembly.Then he said "I need two more people and he grabed Tyler.R and he pulled him to the front of the hall.The who pulled him to the front of the hall his name was Cracker the Caveman.
He was funny and looked just like a cave man but he was Mr Burt dressed up like a cave man.

But next team 1 was coming
up in front of the hall and doing their thing which was saying we are not excit (yet) then
Miss Wide though her slipper.

Next was team 2
They did a Rip about Dinosaurs it was all sorts of Dinosaurs and we were all laughing at
but it was cool and funny.

After that it was team -
3 and they were looking for bones just like Paleontologists.They were asking kids if they have
seen Dinosaur bones.

After that it was team-
4 there one was reading about Dinosaurs but they fell asleep and they were all in the world
of Dinosaurs and Ms,Squires,Ms,Noa,Ms,King,Mr,Plamer.

Camp Aratika...

On wednesday morning it was the year 5 & 6's camp.The year 5 & 6's had to come to school at
8:00am we were putting the school tents up on our school field.we camped for three
days.My friend Mauina came with me to see Wheae Raewyn my old friends were there,there was Rachel and Shaniah.We helped whaea Raewyn break the wood for the fire.The second bell
rang and we went to our groups.

Our first event
was Mosaic and we lined up into two straight lines and walk to Room 2.Next we each got on
table to sit on.I did to pattens at mosaic but the second patten i had to fill in the gabs then mauina and i were the only kids that were in the class cause we were the last ones to finish.

The second event
was camp cooking we sat down so we can listen to whaea Raewyn.First we had a piece of dough and raisins and we had to stick it on the bambooand we cooked it on the fire so we can eat it.So i went to whaea Raewyn to see if it was cooked she said it was cooked so i ate it.It tasted so nice.Then care crew all got a marshmallos.

Our next event
was going canoning with MrBurt first we went to the beach and talked and then we got a lifejacket on and got a canoe.Some people went on the boat I was freaked out on the canoe and I wanted to go back but I still went.

The next thing we
did was swimming and it was cool me,Ala and Angela wanted to jump inside the pool and
have some fun I went under and hunt my head on the ground and care crew were the last one to
stay in the pool which was Ala,Angela,me,some of the girls and boys.

After swimming
we had a movie we went to our tents and put our P.js on.And we went to the hall and watched
a movie.But we had alreadly watch it so we were getting bored so some of us layed down.
When the movie was finished we had to go to our tents and go to sleep and we all said goodnight to the teacher.

The next day we went rock climbing when we went rock climbing it was my first time.I was excited that i could wait to go on.But first i had to concentrate and listen to the instructor
so i know what i was doing.So when she was finished care crew had to put on these things that
you wear on your waist and your thigst.

After that we did
Ten pin bowling and it was cool just like rock climbing cause there was games and they were
cool as games but first we had to do bowling and i was in lane 12 but i was the last one on the
list but i still had fun.When we were finish we played some games but then we had to come by
the leaders and do our dance and singing it was boreing i didn't what to do it but we had to.

After that well i will skip this
and get on with swimarama first we had to line up and sit on the grass.Two groups go down on the side the rest of the groups go inside the pool.When we went and had a swim it was cool
but it was the last day of camp.But next we went down the Hydroslide and that was my first
time and i liked it and it was patch black and i went down 6 times and that was we went back
home.

My friend Julie she is sweet, nice and kind and all the classes I've been in, she was in the same class too. She was at this school before me but when I first came here she was the first friend I had and we were in Room 5 together then we were in Room 9. We sat at the same table in room 9 then we went to room 10. After that I left the school and I didn't come back until 1 year later.

When I came back and I was in room 16 and in two days I saw Julie and we were friends again. Then the next year she was in the same class as me again, but then she left the school so now I was friends with Ala and it was the end...

At our first test...

On Monday after morning tea we had our test. First we had to get a chair and a pencil and we lined up outside to walk with Room 18 to the hall.

I was frightened of what we were doing because I was scared like there was rats walking up my shirt, well it has happened once and it was like fish flipping down my pants. It was like some people were
going to puke on the test. But when I started it wasn't hard after all it was cool and not hard.

In the holidays I went to this lady's house who's name was Karen. She had a pool at her house and her pool was deep down to the ground. I had a long swim and I dived in the water from up on the balcony. Then I got dressed to go and see the birds. After that I played on the trampoline...

The next day I went back home and went to Kairas house and took some clothes and shoes over to her house to her house for her step daughter because it is her step daughter's birthday.Then her step mum asked if I can stay for the night...

On Sunday we had a wedding and I was are flower girl for my aunty's wedding. I was the first one to walk in then the rest came .We did it at Parakai springs
